Dr. Terrence Yau is a cardiovascular surgeon at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, University Health Network, and Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto. Internationally recognized for his expertise in heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and the surgical management of advanced heart failure, he has played a leading role in the development and growth of Toronto General Hospital’s heart transplant and ventricular assist device programs.
Dr. Yau has been instrumental in advancing innovative therapies for patients with end-stage heart disease, helping establish the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre as a global leader in transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. His research focuses on heart failure, transplantation, ventricular assist devices, and clinical outcomes, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and invited presentations worldwide.
Through his clinical leadership, research contributions, and commitment to surgical education, Dr. Yau continues to advance the field of advanced heart failure surgery and improve outcomes for patients with complex cardiovascular disease.
