Dr. Jennifer Chung is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto and a cardiac surgeon at Toronto General Hospital, Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, specializing in complex aortic and general cardiac surgery. She directs the Thoracic Aortic Surgery Clinic and co-directs the Advanced Aortic Surgery Fellowship Program.
With engineering training from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in Aortic Biomechanics from McGill University, Dr. Chung integrates engineering principles into surgical innovation. Her clinical expertise includes open and endovascular repair of aortic root, arch, and thoracoabdominal aneurysms.
Her research examines aortic biomechanics to better predict and prevent aortic failure. She holds the Melanie Munk Professorship in Aortic Biomechanical Research and advances multidisciplinary approaches in cardiovascular surgery and surgical education.
